     I think the best advice I can give you about food is this: stay away from processed and refined foods.  Eat nutritiously dense food as pure and free of pesticides and fertilizers as you can find.  Organic foods are the safest you can provide for your family at this time.  There have been no human studies performed except what is currently underway via the uninformed public.             Genetically Modified Organisms are not safe because the process is unnatural by its very design.  Genes from one kingdom (animal) do not naturally co-mingle with genes of another kingdom (plant) without affecting the surrounding gene expressions of the plant, which may have laid dormant or been active or only moderately expressed.  Steer clear of CORN, SOY, CANOLA, COTTON SEED, ALFALFA, SUGAR BEETS, ZUCCHINI, YELLOW SQUASH, HAWAIIAN & CHINESE PAPYA and RUSSET POTATOES. None of the GMOs are labeled so it is important to read the labels in order to pick out any derivatives or variations of these plants.  There have been numerous animal studies using GMOs as well as Glyphosate (the active ingredient in Monsanto's RoundUp) and you only have to do a search on line to read the papers.

It is also a good practice to limit carbohydrates as there is really no dietary necessity for them and they metabolize as sugar, which has been shown to be toxic to the body.  This also applies to the artificial sweeteners such as High Fructose Corn Syrup, Aspartame, Splenda, Saccharin, ace K, and the sugar alcohols (ending in TOL).   These will appear under many names so be careful. Keep in mind that one teaspoon of sugar equals 4 grams.  

So, lots of organic vegetables, organic meats (grass fed and pasture grazed), free range organic poultry, and raw organic dairy product (fats, cheeses, butter, etc) are the best to feed yourself and your family.   This will lower your cholesterol, blood pressure, and your weight.  You'll feel more energetic, will sleep much better, and possibly alleviate any digestive issues.

It is also a good idea to consume or learn to make KOMBUCHA and organic sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables as these provide billions of beneficial bacteria into your digestive system - the foundation of your immune system.

Keep in mind that the FDA does not protect the people as much as they protect the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Scott Gottlieb brings a Western medicine-based background to the agency.  The new Secretary of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue. We will see how these new appointees effect the food products we are exposed to and offered to buy.  There has yet to be any sort of talk about labeling GMOs in our congress.
